What's a Joshua Tree?

We took a little break last week to go on vacation with Scott's family, touring the Mexican Riviera on Vision of the Seas! We drove to LA and on the way, stopped by Joshua Tree National Forest. Having never been there, we didn't quite know what to look for. As we entered the park... we were amazed by how much this looked like our back yard. We did see some different plants finally, and thinking these were Joshua Trees, we got out to pose by them. We were unimpressed. They were small, and really not that cool. So we drove on... and to our behold, there were the real Joshua Trees. We had been standing by plain old Yucca Plants (which we also have in Arizona). Anyway, Joshua Trees are really cool!

Birthday Weekend

My birthday was celebrated over 3 days, which is how birthdays should be celebrated. We hiked at our favorite spot, Cibecue Creek, on the Apache Indian Reservation.

The Waterfall

I showed Scott my wicked tadpole catching skills.

The water was crystal clear this year.  Must be from all the snow the mountains got.

That evening we went to Quiessence with Barry and Rachel.

And on Monday I got a panCAKE dinner.

Progression

I did promise to post photos of Scott's bruise... so here is the progression. He is looking better these days, with only a little red line.
