Citrus, Worms, Swings and MLK

We are getting more settled into the new place.  Our citrus has been harvested so we can start working on the backyard (there are a few trees too close to the house that need to come out, but we wanted them to be harvested first).

Tessa had her first experience with worms this past week.  She was scared at first, but quickly warmed up to the little guy and wanted to take him on wheelbarrow rides and to play soccer.

Monday, we talked about Martin Luther King Day.  We talked about who he was, and what he stood for.  We even related it to one of her favorite books (thanks Katy!) The Rough Faced Girl.  She did ask what happened to MLK, and I explained that he died.  She asked how and we briefly talked about that another mean man shot him with a gun.  At dinner that night when Scott got home, I asked Tessa to tell him why today was special.  I was expecting her to talk about how it doesn't matter what you look like on the outside because we honestly talked about that concept for 30+ minutes.  Instead she blurts out that the man died because of the mean blue(?) gun and says nothing more.  Awesome.

Hope you all have a good week.

15 weeks

Tessa loves the baby, and usually says it will be a baby sister for her.  She finally thought of a name tonight:  Baby Claire... which I am not so sure the Coleman family would appreciate :)  Both Scott and Tessa are eager to feel some kicks which I've begun to feel this week!

Natural Playground

I've debated on what sort of play structure to get for Tessa, and tonight I started working on a natural playground for her.  Just logs right now, but I have visions of teepees and slides, and all sorts of fun things.  All things loved in Tessa's world are campfires.  So of course that was the first to be built.

Christmas Injuries

30 minutes before we went to the Zoo on Christmas Eve Tessa did a header into a wall.  Just a little flesh wound.

Scott decided to go above and beyond on Christmas day when he cut his hand on a can.  The graphic pictures are on facebook if interested :)

That's right Scott, you're number 1.
