Last month we escaped the heat and headed to Greer, Arizona for a long weekend. It was wonderful. We stayed in a two-bedroom cabin with my parents, and it was so nice not having an agenda to follow for the day. We spend time exploring the grounds and the surrounding forest. Greer was at the center of the Wallow fire this past spring, and it was really sad to see entire mountainsides burned. But the forest floor was alive with wild flowers - out of these ashes, beauty will rise.

It certainly was a fun week-end. A nice break from the heat of the Valley, and so nice to be up in the pines. We'll have to go back next year and see how the forest is recovering from the devastation of the fire.
